Clean water is more than a product.
It's something worth protecting.
From the aquariums we started with to the waterways and ecosystems we're working to protect, our mission is to keep exploring better ways to create cleaner, healthier water.
Where It Started
My passion for clean water began on the water itself, fishing and swimming with my father. Those early days showed me what our rivers, lakes, and coastlines could be. As I got older, I watched that beauty slowly disappear. I wanted to help restore those waters so future generations could enjoy them the way I did. That purpose became AquaChar®️ in 2018.
Before we ever thought about using AquaChar in larger bodies of water, we needed to know that it was safe for the life already living there. A home reef aquarium is like an ocean in miniature, with fish, invertebrates, corals, and microorganisms all depending on a delicate balance. If AquaChar could clean the water without harming sensitive aquatic life, we knew it had the potential to make a much bigger difference. That became the foundation of our aquarium line, and it continues to be where we test and improve our technology.
As our research continued, so did the mission. The water that supports farms and fisheries also affects the food we eat, from seafood and livestock to the crops we grow. Protecting the water at its source can help protect everything that depends on it.
Today, AquaChar is focused on some of the biggest challenges facing our water and environment, including the growing problem of microplastics. We believe cleaner water is essential to healthy ecosystems, healthy communities, and a healthier future.

Why AquaChar
We didn't set out to build just another aquarium filter. We set out to develop a filtration material that could genuinely improve water quality, one that was safe enough for the most sensitive aquatic life and effective enough to explore far beyond a single tank. Every application since, from aquariums to aquaculture to waterway restoration, has grown from that same simple standard: does it make the water better without doing harm? The technical details of how AquaChar works live on our Science page. This page is simply about why we built it.
From Aquariums to Clean Water
What began with aquarium water led us to explore how the same technology could be applied to larger aquatic systems and environmental challenges.
Where We're Going
We're continuing to research, test, and develop new applications for our technology, one step at a time, starting from where we've already proven it works.
We believe clean water should be possible everywhere.
AquaChar began with a simple idea: find a better way to help keep water clean. What started as a search for a safer filtration material grew into technology we believe can be applied to much larger clean-water challenges.
